do you have to use a live round in the chamber when you headspace using method 2?

I have never used a live round, a dummy round, or an empty case when headspacing with Method 2, and that method has always worked fine for me.

There is a long discussion of headspacing in this thread http://www.1919a4.com/forums/showthread.php?t=818 and the advice seems sound to me.
