Default missed 57mm AT gun

They had a 57mm gun on gunbroker for $8500 buy it now and i missed it. question- it had the breech welded and concrete in bbl. is this ok to purchase this way? Just trying to be careful. - stan

Tough to say. Better to stay away unless absolutely sure. It could have been a VFW display gun still owned by Uncle Sam. What sort of ownership papers (if any) did they have? When its that cheap there is generally a reason and it isn't always good.

..they used to deactivate them. Legal to own as far as per BATFE regs. Just as long as it's not stolen as this is how most of the display cannons are done.There is a 57mm in my neck of the sand ( ) on display I'd love to restore. The elv and wind gears were also usually welded , another tip off.

Just missed? that sold over a month ago to someone who has advertised cannon for sale here,

I know a little about the gun, being I am originally from Long Island, it sat in a fellows back yard attached to a Korean war jeep,

I believe a member of my old MV club ended up with it and now the fellow in TN.

I was looking through the old gunbroker completed ads and had a question about legal demill. I didnt say i just missed it. thanks anyway, i guess i missed it here too. -stan

Sorry Stan, I guess I misread what your were saying, you are right in questioning it, this gun is too "grey" for my liking. That is one reason I never pursued it 10 or 12 years ago when I lived on L.I.
