No shame in adding a rubber buttpad. I have never added a rubber buttpad to my old rifles but if the recoil is to hard then add it. I shoot all of my guns the way they were built , If they came with a cushion i use it if not then i shoot it bare LOL.

Haha... hey now thats mighty low going after someone's Dog! He is a more evolutionary advanced Dog for the modern world. He does not have to turn his head to look both ways when crossing the street! Oh and he has a Cool digital Camo Stalking vest to keep him warm in the winter! Not all Dogs are smart enough to shoot a CETME at such a young age! He is a Monster for a Boston Terrier... He is 35lbs when they are not suppose to be more than 25lbs max!

Part of shooting a gun is getting to feel the gun. I mean why not just clamp it in a vise and pull the trigger? Esp like a Mosin... those Russian did not have a Pu$$y pad for it! I don't know, I guess its just a mind set. I am going out there to enjoy shooting the gun. If that means I can only take 5 shots and it begins to hurt and I have to stop... well thats that gun! Enjoy it for what it is. Now if you are building a rifle and want a nice modern recoil absorbing butt pad, I have no problem with that. However if you put one on a Mosin... now thats just bubba! Like I said, if you can't take the recoil go get a Poodle shooter like the rest of them do! Plus those slip on Pads are just so ghetto... why not break out the duck tape and tape it on? The only good case I ever saw for one was a guy who broke his butt plate and could not find another. So he had one to take its place.

I have a 50 ferret with a 36" barrel and a standard A2 AR butt stock. I'd love to give you as much ammo as you can shoot from it in a single setting. I won't be out much money. If a slip-on or strap-on or whatever lets me shoot it twice as much and enjoy it more then WTF? The black and blue shoulder doesn't impress that many people anymore.

Default Mosin-Nagant conversion

Way back when, Bannerman rechambered a bunch of these to 30-06. I wonder if any are still floating around somebodies attic?

Captain Boyd was a member and from Eau Claire, WI. A friend has his uniform as part of his collection of military history. Makes history more interesting when you find the small links that bring it close to home.

Huh huh, you said strap-on! Huh huh. Huh huh. Strap on. Shut up Beavis.....

But seriously, I know what you mean. While 762x54 and 8x56r are nowhere near a .50, they are far from 'pleasant' shooting. Maybe if IMBLITZVT wasnt so overweight, he would actually feel the recoil......

Sorry man, all offered in fun. Im sorry about making fun of your dog, that was just below the belt. I guess you just hurt my feelings Id have a picture of my dog but its impossible to get a 75lb Yellow Lab to pose behind a 1919. All she wants to do is chase the laser on the M4.....again and again and again and again and again ang again and again.........

Well, they kinda sorta did. Have you seen the Russian winter uniforms those guys were wearing? Lots of extra padding in there; more than a t-shirt at the range. So while I agree the Russians did not have padding on the gun, they DID have padding- but in the uniforms of the day. And the Chinese and Koreans even more so. Apples to apples, if what you are wanting is to experience what the original users felt with these.

Plus, there's the fact that many of them never did have to worry about shooting one all afternoon. Four, maybe five shots, and the next guy behind them carrying a clip of cartridges was going to be using it instead. The dead don't bitch about bruising...

If they are, they are notoriously unsafe to shoot in 30-06.......

"One of the commercial sales was to Bannerman’s, the great New York City military surplus house, which had the guns converted to fire the common .30-06 round; the rifles have the new caliber stamped on their actions. These guns can still be found but should NOT be fired: the conversions were not done to modern safety standards and these rifles are considered dangerous to shoot. Though interesting as collector’s items, they should be deactivated by removing the firing pin, or clipping the end off the firing pin, or by any other means to ensure that they cannot be fired by accident or design."

From:http://www.mosinnagant.net/ussr/US-Mosin-Nagants.asp

Also......."The problem as I understand it is .30'06 is rimless and pretty straight, while 54R has a big rim and sloping sides. So to get the chamber recut for '06 you have to slice off the back end of the chamber and ream way into the barrel past the shank. So instead of having a huge Mosin shank supporting the main body of the round, you have support only about half way up then just the thin barrel walls. Plus the '06 is a notch longer than the 54R so you have trouble there too."

I picked up on the J and G sales old hex guns for 99.00 including shipping.

Came with all the bells and whistles. The long gun is nice.

I prefer the M44 better. Price on those short ones has really gone up from the 50.00 I paid a few years ago.

The reason for your Lab's behavior is found in the Latin name for the breed.

Cannis Labradoris Goofus

My 11 year old Lab Suzie acts like a 6months old pup.
