Default Top plate rivets...domed or flat?

Which way do you prefer? Which was was "correct" when manufactured?

I've done both, and finally settled on the flat style.

I prefer domed as to my choice, but sometimes the long rivit refuses to comply, then I wind up with a 3 to 1 score. The rivet integrity is still there reguardless!

Early pre production A4's from about 1937 have flat rivets on both the top plate and bottom plates.

Later this changed to the dome style.

Default ...personal preference...

Prefer the domed variety. Easier to do and maintain, better structural integrity and less grinding. Sometimes have to clamp the side plates to get enough rivet to come thru the top plate. Lately, been smashing it down to give a temperory hold...then rounding it off with air rivet gun. I personally like the look...gives the Browning a look of strength.

Both were used during production, that's why I give you both.

Among modifications ordered in April of 1938 was a change in the rear top plate rivets to a countersunk oval head, from the original countersunk flush head. This order specifies the rear top plate rivets without mention to the front one. You can take it from there as to your preference.

Images exist of guns with a flush front top plate rivet and domed rear, as well as with both domed. Here is the pattern I have observed. All RIA and SG guns I have seen pictured have domed rear rivets. The RIA ones have a particularly large head. On the front, SG seem to vary with some being flush ground, with RIA always being domed of standard size.
