Interesting,, but it would probably be cheaper to build or buy an AK 74 than to do a mod like that on an HK 93. If you could get away using the HK bolt,, but a custom barrel for one of these would be expensive I'll wager.

not when you have an hk auto sear or the equivalent.

wondering if the barrel could be reamed a bit to accept the new cartridge, like the vickers conversion?

i remember reading that some of the 74s produced by century had modified 223 barrels and that they had some issues with very accurate response but not terrible. just some keyholing and such. and a barrel blank for that can't be too much right?

there is sooo much 545 out there and it is the absolute cheapest ammo on the market short of 22lr.

A bolt face can be opened up very slightly, you could turn one of the K-var AK-74 virign barrels to the proper profile to fit the gun, the only trick would be 5.45 mags- mayeb you could mod the gun to take C-products 5.45 AR mags.

The barrel will cost you more than the gun. HKs use a flutted chamber and will not work without the flutes. If you ream the chamber you will remove the flutes. The last barrel I had made for an HK ran me over $800 and that was 6-7 years ago. Better off buying/building a Bulgy 74 or Polish Tantal and save yourself a lot of grief.
