Field Stripping a 1919a4, Part 1

We're going to take you with us as we field strip a 1919a4. To start with, as with all firearms, check to make sure that the chamber is empty. (Note that throughout this guide you can click on any image to see the full sized version. Just realize that the full size version is just that--full size--and hence takes some time to download).

Check to make sure chamber is empty.

So how do you get that damned back plate off there? Not a problem--just fully retract the bolt, and with the bolt held back, push the screw in (yes, the one you've been wondering about right above the grip) and turn it clockwise until it locks in the bolt. Now you can move the bolt back into the forward position.

Fully retract bolt, then push in and turn the screw until it locks in the bolt. Now move the bolt back forward.
