Hello everyone, I am looking for some 40mm Bofors casings, and seem to be having issues finding any. These are for the L/60 gun (40×311mmR) which are the most common ones. I need steel or brass casings, no projectiles as I am making my own. I need about 40 total for a battle reenactment coming up, I have 8 so far.
These are probably going to be HTF. THe C-130 gunships use a 40mm Bofors and last time I talked to one of the crewmen, they had gone through the old stores of ammunition and had actually contracted for new manufacture (YMMV). You might check the govt. auction sites, as I know they are selling other empty cases (including 40mm grenade) as salvage. That's the word from this side of NM (Clovis).

I believe most of the military auctions require the "mutilation" of any empty cases or shells before you can take possesion of them. At least that is what I have been seeing mentioned in some of these auctions.
Too bad Knob Creek is still 3-4 mo. away. There are always several boxes full of 40MM Bofors cases laying around. Might call the cannon guy in WA state. Can't remember his name or the Co. Someone here should be able to direct you to his info.
This who i think L999here is talking about http://www.cdvs.us/40mm-L-60-brass-case-dummy-rd-winert-apt-projectiel-P1127.aspx he also carried the 5 round clips for them in steel and aluminum ,he does not list just the cases but if you make contact with him you just might be able to get them from him with out the inert projectiles .
Good Luck to you !!
