We've recently had a chance to take a look at another semi 1919a4 sideplate, this one from newcomer Keith Gelsomino and his partner Bernard Benning. Keith is selling 80% sideplates for $120 shipped, and let me tell you, they are clean and sharp! Keith makes the semi 1919 plates out of 4130 steel plate, and uses a CNC machine to cut them to their final state. The 80% plates have all the holes cut except the rivet holes, so you'll have to get your carbide bit out and do some drilling. As with the other 80% semi sideplate, you can have this plate sent directly to you; it doesn't need to go through an FFL. You may want to use the templates from PIE Industries to drill the rivet holes unless you have another plate to use as a template. Keith's plate is extremely well done. Smooth cuts, very clean edges, and both end cuts are ready to go. The plates are ready for you to drill and rivet, and at $145, are a great bargain. He also plans to offer a 1/4 semi-plate that's just cut out, you have to do the machine work yourself.
Keith's kind enough to provide these plates to the 1919a4.com community, and I'm sure they'll come in handy for your next semi 1919 project! We recently reviewed yet another sideplate, this one from Ohio Rapid Fire.
