There seems to be lots of options on these, but they also seem to be all over the map on pricing. Granted, you'd expect that the more you pay the better quality and range you get, but I'm not so sure. There are several points where just a small gain in performance will cost your wallet dearly.
So, what's the "best bang for the buck" on a night rifle scope regarding range, quality, price, etc. below $1K (if possible)?
Digger: Us Night vision has gen-2 scopes that are very good for right at 1K. I have a gen 3 and can see for hundreds of yards. My buddy has a gen 2 and he too can see for a couple hundred yards. On a moon lit night no IR light is needed for a gen 2, no moon for distance a light is desired, all depands on condishions wide open or in the woods. DON"T waste you money on a gen 1 or some russian import. US Night vision also has great customer care. my 2 cents.
Thank's NAVY. I was looking at "high-end" Gen. 1's but I know they have their limitations. I'm looking for long range, in open country, little to no light, BUT on somewhat of a budget. I'll take a look at US Night Vision.
The best and undeniably the cheapest GEN 1 Scope is the AN/PVS 2B scope-- You can get adapters for almost any mounting from the M2HB Down to the M-16 FAL ETC: The 2B's have the good tube with auto matic brightness control-- Built in recticle light weight-- With the elcan mount you can put it on your 1919 also using the picatinny side rail-- usually they go for no more that $500.00 with a bunch of the accesories -- And did I mention they are USGI and built like a tank -- Israeli ones are out there also but make sure you are buying a 2-B !! There is a big differnce in the tubes!
